Vienna, VA (June 24, 2021) – Southern Management Companies (Southern) has coordinated more than 1,300 COVID-19 vaccines during a series of mobile clinics held in recent weeks at its Maryland and Virginia apartment home communities. These events are part of our initiative called, Our Shot to End COVID that provides residents with information about COVID-19 vaccines and assistance finding them. Southern recently launched a new webpage for the initiative that promotes the idea of doing whatever it takes (including being vaccinated) to move on from the COVID era. The site recognizes how eager people are to get back into the swing of our normal lives and offers helpful tips and additional resources about how to accomplish that goal.
The mobile clinics are held in Southern’s apartment communities, making it easier and more convenient for those who don’t have easy access to transportation or a healthcare provider. The clinics also return to the communities to provide second doses of vaccines, as appropriate. Southern’s mobile vaccine partners include the Prince George’s County Health Department, Prince William County Health Department, FEMA, the National Guard, Giant Pharmacy, Tenants and Workers United, Food Justice DMV and the city of Takoma Park.
“Our partnerships with government, community groups and businesses are a shining example of how public and private entities can work together to have a meaningful and lasting impact,” said Terry Cotten Southern’s vice president of property management.
Southern has always been involved in the communities and neighborhoods we serve. Lynn Phillips, Southern’s director of business development, resident relations and communication said, “promoting COVID-19 vaccination efforts and doing whatever it takes to bring an end to the pandemic feels like the most important initiative of this moment.”
Additional events are already scheduled to take place in Vienna, Virginia, College Park and Takoma Park, Maryland, and we’re working in various jurisdictions and neighborhoods to schedule more clinics.
