Vienna, VA (November 17, 2020) –Southern Management Companies (SMC) was selected by the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore (DPOB) as the recipient of the Clean & Green Award. This award is in recognition of SMC’s exceptional maintenance of so many of downtown Baltimore’s flagship properties.
During DPOB’s Annual Meeting, held virtually on Thursday, November 12, Suzanne Hillman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SMC, thanked the organization for the award and for their important work and coordination efforts in Baltimore. “Southern Management is a long-term investor in downtown Baltimore,” Suzanne Hillman shared in her acceptance. “We believe in the city and are here as a part of the community.”
SMC is among Baltimore’s largest owner/operators of multifamily apartment communities and has a long history of helping to clean up the city’s streets and neighborhoods. The company has completed historic renovations of some of the city’s most iconic buildings in recent years – carefully preserving and restoring them as monuments to Baltimore’s past.
SMC has worked together with the DPOB and the City of Baltimore to develop community programming that better connects the city’s residents and businesses. These programs have increased awareness about some of downtown Baltimore’s green spaces and have created positive, shared experiences for the people who live, work and visit Baltimore.
